Rebates

Medicare

In order to access Medicare rebates, you require a valid referral and mental health treatment plan from your GP or psychiatrist.

You can currently access up to 10 sessions per year under this Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative.

You’ll need to make an appointment with your referring doctor after the 6th session to get a re-referral.

The current Medicare rebate for accessing a psychologist is $96.65, which means there is a gap payable for your appointment.

We can process your Medicare rebate on your behalf, with funds being rebated back into the bank account connected to your Medicare number within 1-3 business days.

If you have any questions about Medicare rebates, please contact our friendly admin team.

Private Health Insurance

Most private health funds provide rebates for psychological services under their extras cover.

Please contact your fund for more information regarding the rebates for psychological services you are eligible for.

A referral is not required for health insurance rebates.

Payments

Your chosen payment method is stored securely using our practice management software during our new patient intake process. You will not be charged until after your appointment or in the case of non-attendance at your appointment time.

Payments are taken from your account shortly after your appointment, so please ensure you have enough funds available.

Have an NDIS plan? Head over to our dedicated NDIS page for more information.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide us at least 48 hours notice, otherwise you will be charged as per our schedule of fees listed above. Cancellation fees will be charged using the payment method stored in our secure booking system Halaxy.

Please note that Medicare or health insurance rebates are not applicable to cancellation fees.

While we endeavour to remind you of your appointments through email reminders, these should not be relied upon and it is your responsibility to remember appointments you have made.

You can also make changes to your appointment at anytime of day or night through our online booking system so you can see what other dates are available instantly!

There is no charge for rescheduling appointments if you let us know more than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment.

Please note that emailing is the most effective way to ensure we receive appropriate notice. A voicemail can also be left if your appointment falls within our 48 hour cancellation policy.

We believe in affordable and accessible mental healthcare, however, we also believe in paying psychologists a fair rate for their time and work.

Outside of the 50 minute counselling sessions, psychologists also need to prepare a number of reports to your referrer, write case notes as well as spend time preparing for your sessions.

To ensure that you receive a good quality service and the best possible care, we only see a limited number of clients per day. Given the nature of our work, we also want to ensure that we are taking regular breaks throughout the day to avoid burnout and look after our own mental health.
